Genesis of the name

About 300 years ago Rajendra Chozhan went hunting and entered a place, which was covered with dense forest. He saw many “mullai” (jasmine) plants that he wanted to take to his palace. While cutting the mullai plant, blood poured out from the plant, which surprised him. He informed the King i.e. his father, Raja Raja Chozhan, of this. The King visited the place and asked his soldiers to remove the plant. On removing the plant they saw a Siva Lingam. The King named this place as Thirumullaivasal that means of entrance the place of Siva Lingam.
